Efficient use of energy
How to reduce energy use
Burning fuels to produce energy results in carbon emission which influences climate. Even if the sun and wind energy are an alternative for a greener future, the most ecological energy is the one that can be saved.
We reduce carbon emissions and, in the same time, reduce the energy costs, by adopting some changes in the daily routine:
• TV sets, DVD players, sound devices or computers put in stand-by mode still use 40% of energy. Therefore, close appliances when not used, in order to save this energy.
• Use fluorescent light bulbs. Even if more expensive, they are 10 times more resistant that the regular ones and use 75% less energy to produce the same light.
• Install the refrigerator in a cool and clean place and make sure there is enough space behind it to allow proper ventilation.
• Keep in mind: if you lower the central heating thermostat with one degree you reduce by 3% the energy costs, and, each degree raised in the air conditioning device saves 3-4% of the energy used. By changing the temperature with 2 degrees you avoid the emission of 900 kg. of CO2 per year.
• Use lower water temperature for the clothes washing machine and avoid using the electrical clothes dryer, saving thus 80% of the energy necessary to wash clothes.
• Turn off the light when not in the room and use sensor lights for outside lighting.
